I just had a 3 days 2 nights get away from tiny island of Singapore to the huge island of Indonesia.
It was, I shall say, an eye opener for me.
It definitely not my first time being there, but its my first experience living in an island without any form of communication or connection to the world around.
Living on a water village.
If that is what it was called.
It truely is An eye-opening Experience.
It is when you have this experience, then will you realise how protected we, Singaporeans are.
The story that they tell you of the time when a boy drown and met at the end of the village, blue and bloated.
The story where they cant move frm where they are because the water level is too high and the waves were too strong they had to stay stranded on the island.
The story when they have to live with a broken jetty.
The story when the water flood their homes.
Even when I arrive, the jetty broke.
We had to drop at some house near the middle of the ocean and walk in.
All these stories I have to say will never be experienced in tiny island of Singapore.
Even if it did, the Government will step in and try to minimise the pain and suffering.
Even though we are a modernised country, I shall say 1 thing I am not proud of being a Singaporean.
We so do not have road courtesy.
Sure, they do not wear helmet.
Sure, they ride 6 pillions on a bike.
But hey, they have courtesy.
They give way, they horn at every single move they are going to make.
I dont know.
Maybe the traffic is just very smooth flowing when I was there.
I am not talking about the town area.
I am talking aout the village.
I am missing the cold wind and the vast ocean view and the serene scenery.
